From Rainford will be as normal route to Church Road then via Mossborough Road, Blind Foot Road, East Lancashire Road, Rainford Road then as normal route to St Helens. (Omits Church Road, Pasture Lane and Rainford Bypass).

Service 38A

From St Helens will be as normal route to Rainford Bypass then continue via Rainford Bypass, Mossborough Road, Church Road then asnormal route to Rainford. (Omits Crank Road, Crank Hill, Higher Lane, Rookery Lane and a section of Church Road).
From Rainford will be as normal route to Church Road then via Mossborough Road, Blind Foot Road, East Lancashire Road, Rainford Road then as normal route to St Helens. (Omits a section of Church Road, Rookery Lane, Higher Lane, Crank Hill, Crank Road and Rainford Bypass).
